As part of our ongoing behind-the-scenes feature on our brilliant Trustees, we talk to Archway Board Secretary Margaret Price…
Could you tell us a little about yourself and how you became involved in Archway?
I was a GP in Harrow and Elstree for 30 years, ending up as Senior Partner in a Christian Medical Centre at St Peter’s Church in West Harrow. Our motto was ‘penicillin and a prayer’ – and ‘If it’s not fun, we won’t do it!’ On retirement my husband and I moved to Oxford where we joined St Matthew’s Church. Friends there invited me to join the board.
Can you tell us about your role on the Board of Trustees?
My role on the board includes working on the Church Promotion Group. We ran a morning training session on loneliness and pastoral care and had a great time sharing ideas. With Sheila, I have also done some teaching about loneliness for GPs in training.
What inspires you about working with Archway?
It is heartwarming to see the difference Archway makes in people’s lives, whether as friends, befriended or drivers – my husband now drives for Archway and likes feeling useful.
The rest of the time we visit our families in Abu Dhabi and San Francisco. Here are our grandchildren who have just met for the first time!
We would like to thank Margaret for taking time out to talk to Archway, and for all her expertise and dedication as part of the Board of Trustees.
