The Great Get Together is an annual event in “celebration of MP Jo Cox’s belief that we have more in common”. Archway’ CEO Sheila Furlong tells us how Archway got involved with Great Get Together this year:
“Joy Dadswell (Archway in Abingdon Coordinator) and myself were delighted to represent Archway at the Great Get Together Event held at St Ethelwold’s House on Sunday 24th June 2018.
“A bring and share picnic brought together people of all ages and provided a delicious range of foods from across the globe. Musicians, and Singing from a community Choir in the beautiful gardens created an idyllic atmosphere. Short speeches were given by Emma Beacham from More in Common, by Margaret Crick ,the Mayor of Abingdon, and I gave a brief overview of the work of Archway.
“Lots of people viewed our display boards and asked questions about Archway so we hope that as a result we inspired more people to volunteer with Archway as well as encouraging those who might benefit from having a link with Archway through one of the Social Groups or one-to-one befriending, to make contact with us.”
