“9 million of us often or always feel lonely” – why Katy took on the Oxford Half for Archway

Amazing volunteer Katy Owen completed the Oxford Half Marathon this month to help tackle loneliness in Oxford – what an achievement. Here’s what she says about her choice to run for Archway…

“Many of us know what it feels like to be lonely – in fact 9 million of us always or often feel lonely. The Archway Foundation is an amazing small charity supporting those hurt by loneliness in Oxfordshire. Archway provides a much-needed support network to vulnerable adults, many of whom have experienced complex challenges and barriers in their lives.

I’ve been lucky enough to volunteer for them since January and I’ve heard first hand how Archway’s social clubs and befriending service transform people’s confidence and social lives. Archway’s staff and volunteers are some of the most dedicated and empathetic people I’ve met, and that’s why I’m raising money for them in my attempt to tackle the Oxford Half.”

Thank you so much Katy!
