Archway CEO receives MBE for Services to Mental Health

In 2021, Archway CEO Sheila Furlong was awarded an MBE in the Queen’s New Years Honours List for Services to Mental Health, in recognition of her long standing work with The Archway Foundation in alleviating loneliness in Oxford and Abingdon.

In an Investiture ceremony held at Buckingham Palace on 14th July, Sheila was presented with the MBE by HRH Princess Anne.

This year Archway celebrates its 40th anniversary year, and continues to support hundreds of isolated people in Oxfordshire via a telephone service, face-to-face individual support, and supported social groups. Sheila says:

‘It continues to be a privilege to be a part of this work in bringing relief, acceptance, hope and opportunities for supportive human contact and meaningful connection.’
